BLACK SABBATH Bassist To Host L.A. HEART FOR THE SOUTH Fundraiser
September 20, 2005BLACK SABBATH bassist Geezer Butler will host the Los Angeles HEART for the South fundraiser, set to take place on Saturday, September 24 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Fairfax High School (where the weekly Fairfax Flea Market is housed) in Los Angeles, California.
It started as a simple crusade among friends in the music industry who, after seeing and hearing about the Hurricane Katrina disaster, wanted to make a physical contribution to the victims. As more stories and personal connections to victims were discovered and shared, this group began to feel helpless. This helplessness easily and effortlessly morphed into a passion to do something. In a matter of hours, they formed the group ECHO (Entertainment Community Helping Others) and began organizing a fundraiser.
Hosted by Butler, the event will offer: Local Vendors, Flea Market booths, Live Music, Silent Auction, and Raffle. Local vendors and individuals alike are invited to participate in this event. Flea Market booths are available for reservation now. Booth prices are $50 for 10 x 10 and $100 for 20 x 20. All proceeds from rental go directly to the charities.
The music portion of the event will start at 11 a.m. and run until the event closes at 6 p.m. Headlining the event are FISHBONE and PHANTOM PLANET, who will be joined by local bands KILLOLA, THE FADE, THE HATCH, HOLDEN, THOM CHACON, DAMON AARON, and more. Check the web site for updates.
